WORCESTER, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team (5-11, 3-10 Northeast-10 Conference) let an early double-digit lead slip away in a 64-44 loss at Assumption College on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Alexis Keller (Harrington Park, N.J./Old Tappan) led the Purple Knights with 16 points in the loss. Junior Logan Pintka (Schenectady, N.Y./Colonie Central) added 13 points and five rebounds as the Purple Knights shot just 33 percent from the field (15-of-45) and committed 24 turnovers.
For Assumption (10-8, 7-6 NE-10), Molly Griffiths had a game-high 26 points and 11 rebounds. The Greyhounds held a 38-26 rebounding advantage and shot 46 percent from the field.
Saint Michael's raced out to a 15-3 lead, but the Purple Knights couldn't hang on to their doube-digit advantage. Saint Michael's lead dwindled to 25-22 at halftime, and the host Greyhounds opened the second half on an 11-2 run to lead 33-27. The Purple Knights kept their deficit at six points over the next several minutes, the last time at 40-34 with 9:51 to go, but Assumption sealed the win with a game-ending 24-10 run.
Saint Michael's returns to action on Tuesday with a 5:30 p.m. contest versus American International College at the Ross Sports Center.
