WILMINGTON, Del. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team (3-6) went scoreless for more than seven minutes in the second half in dropping a 67-62 non-conference decision at Goldey-Beacom College on Monday.
Senior Alexis Keller (Harrington Park, N.J./Old Tappan) had a team-high 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Purple Knights. Junior Logan Pintka (Schenectady, N.Y./Colonie Central) added 13 points and six rebounds, while sophomore Caitlin Quinn (Oakdale, Conn./Montville) netted 10 points.
After trailing by 13 points in the first half, Saint Michael's pulled to within two points, 39-37, with 15:29 left in regulation. The host Lightning, however, then went on a 14-0 run in the next seven minutes, increasing their lead to 53-37. The Purple Knights then scored 11 straight points to cut their deficit to single digits, and a Keller 3-pointer with nine seconds left pulled Saint Michael's to within four points, but a Lightning free throw and a missed Keller trifecta sealed the Purple Knights' fate.
Saint Michael's returns to action on January 2, 2010, with a 1:30 p.m. contest at Northeast-10 Conference rival Bentley University.
