COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team (7-3) survived a desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer to earn a 59-56 victory versus Goldey-Beacom College (3-4) in non-conference action on Saturday at the Ross Sports Center.

For the Purple Knights, sophomore Michelle Otey (Southborough, Mass/Algonquin Regional) tied her career-high with 20 points, connecting on 9-of-14 shots from the field. She added a game-high nine rebounds. Senior Allison Dunn (Whippany, N.J./Morris Catholic) chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Alexis Keller (Harrington Park, N.J./Old Tappan) added eight points as Saint Michael's won its second straight contest.

For Goldey-Beacom, senior Toni Jones (Lewes, Del.) scored a game-high 29 points, including 19 in the second half, and added a team-high seven rebounds and seven steals. The Lightning forced 26 Saint Michael's turnovers, but committed 24 of their own, and allowed the Purple Knights to shoot 59 percent from the field in the second half.

Saint Michael's held a narrow 28-24 lead after a first half that featured four ties and 10 lead changes. The Purple Knights appeared to take control early in the second half, as Saint Michael's opened the period with a 12-2 run to take a game-high 40-26 lead with just over 16 minutes remaining. Goldey-Beacom, however, then went on a 20-4 run over the next seven minutes, including 13 points from Jones, to take its first lead of the second half at 46-44. Neither team held more than a five-point lead for the remainder of the contest, and Saint Michael's survived a desperation 3-pointer from senior Natasha Scott (Philadelphia, Pa.) at the buzzer that would have forced overtime.

Saint Michael's returns to action on Wednesday, as the Purple Knights close out the calendar year with a 5:30 p.m. Northeast-10 Conference contest at the College of Saint Rose.
