SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team (13-15, 9-14 NE-10) ended their 2007-08 season on Sunday, falling to the sixth-seeded Bryant Univesity Bulldogs (18-10, 13-10 NE-10), 73-60. Sophomore Alexis Keller (Harrington Park, N.J./Old Tappan) led the way for the Purple Knights with 19 points on the night while senior Allison Dunn (Whippany, N.J./Morris Catholic) scored 13 in her final game in a Saint Michael's uniform.
Outscoring Saint Michael's 43-32 in the second half, Bryant was led by junior Cara Johnson (Endicott, N.Y.) and sophomore Kelsey O'Keefe (Warren, Mass.) with 22 and 23 points, respectively. Johnson shot 10-of-14 from the field in 34 minutes of play while senior Lynne-Ann Kokoski (Hatfield, Mass.) scored 11 points, dished seven assists grabbed five boards and three steals. Bryant advances to play the three-seed Assumption Greyhounds on Tuesday, March 4 in Worcester for a Northeast-10 Quarterfinal match-up.
Saint Michaels' seniors Dunn, Adrienne Carpenter (Princeton, Mass.), and Amy Pitchers (Oxford Mills, Ont.) played in their final game as Purple Knights dropping the eighth straight decision to Bryant in series history.
