PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- After posting a sweep of their own over Pace University on November 25, Saint Michael's was swept in basketball at the hands of Setters at the Goldstein Athletic Center in Pleasantville, New York on Saturday afternoon. The men (7-16, 5-14 NE-10) and women (13-11, 9-10 NE-10) return home for three consecutive home games to close out the regular season, starting with Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday, February 19 at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
After a 71-61 win over Pace in Colchester earlier this season, the women of Saint Michael's fell behind 40-26 at the half en route to a 70-59 setback on the road. Despite scoring 10 second-chance points to Pace's zero and a game-high 18 points from sophomore Michelle Otey (Westborough, Mass./Algonquin Reg.), Saint Michael's dropped their second straight contest on the road. Freshman Logan Pintka also came off the bench to score 13 for Saint Michael's, but 20 first-half turnovers plagued the Purple Knights to the point of defeat.

Pace improved to 8-11 with the win in conference play and 9-15 overall. The Setters take to the road against American International on Tuesday against the fifth-ranked Yellow Jackets.
In the men's contest, Saint Michael's could not overcome a 45-24 halftime deficit, despite a 14-4 run to open the second half. Senior co-captain James Sorrentine (Pawtucket, R.I./Saint Raphael's Acad.) scored a team-high 20 points while classmate and co-captain Brian Monahan (Kinderhook, N.Y./Christian Brothers Acad.) dropped 18 and junior Mike Iola (West Newbury, Mass./Pentucket Reg.) scored 19 on 5-of-7 shooting from deep.
