COLCHESTER, Vt.-- The Saint Michaels' women's basketball team (11-8, 7-7 NE-10) dropped their first contest in the last three outings to Le Moyne College (10-10, 7-9 NE-10) Wednesday evening at the Ross Sports Center, 63-56. Saint Michael's was led by sophomore forward Michelle Otey (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional), the only Purple Knight in double-figures, who scored 12 points to go along with six boards.
In a match-up between the Dunn sisters (Allison and Katie), the Dolphins and Katie Dunn (Whippany, N.J./Morris Catholic) got the better of the Purple Knights, as the junior scored 12 points to split the season series with Saint Michael's. Also for Le Moyne, junior forward Vanessa Holden (Suffern, N.Y./Immaculate Heart) led all scorers with 14 points on 5-9 shooting in addition to nine rebounds. Sophomore center Courtney Coryea (Mooers Forks, N.Y./Northeast Clinton) waged an overall assault on Saint Michael's with 10 points, nine rebounds, six blocks, four assists and two steals for the game.
Besides 12 points from Otey, senior Allison Dunn (Whippany, N.J./Morris Catholic) tallied nine points while grabbing seven rebounds. Freshman Logan Pintka (Niskayuna, N.Y./Colonie) also came off the bench to score nine, including 3-3 from the line.
The Purple Knights return to action again at home versus The College of Saint Rose at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 2.
