NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - Four players scored in double figures as Saint Michael's College (4-1, 2-1 Northeast-10 Conference) bested Merrimack, 73-66, in women's basketball action on Wednesday.
For the Purple Knights, senior Jevy Rayner (Westminster, Vt./Bellows Falls Union) led the way with 16 points while adding five rebounds. Junior Adrienne Carpenter (Princeton, Mass./Wachusett Regional) and sophomore Anna Florent (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider) added 12 points apiece, with Florent grabbing six rebounds, and senior Dani Rayner (Westminster, Vt./Bellows Falls Union) tallied 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Five other players scored for Saint Michael's, which shot 26-for-30 from the free throw line in outscoring Merrimack, 50-47, in the second half.
Saint Michael's returns to action on Saturday, as the Purple Knights host nationally-ranked Southern Connecticut State University at 1:30 p.m. at the Ross Sports Center. The game can be heard on both ESPN 1390 AM WCAT, and 88.7 FM WCAT, and seen live over the internet through NE-10.tv.
