Volleyball Ends Season With 3-1 Setback To League-Leading New Haven

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College volleyball team (8-19, 2-13 Northeast-10 Conference) ended its season on Saturday with a 3-1 setback to the University of New Haven at the Ross Sports Center (19-25, 25-14, 25-15, 25-17). With the win, New Haven clinched a perfect 15-0 NE-10 record, earning the program's second straight regular-season league title and the top seed in next weekend's NE-10 Tournament, hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

For New Haven (24-4 overall), junior Sara Malmlov (Lindesberg, Sweden) tallied a match-high 14 kills, while freshman Keidy Candelaria (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) added 10 kills, 14 digs and five service aces. Classmate Tia Inong (Ewa Beach, Hawaii) recorded a match-best 39 assists and eight service aces for the Chargers, who lost a set for just the seventh time in conference play this season.

For the Purple Knights, junior Lindsey Frazier (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central) recorded a team-best 13 kills, finishing with a program-record 322 kills on the season. Freshman Katie Walsh (North Kingstown, R.I./Prout School) handed out 27 assists and added 11 digs, while senior Kelly Garthwait (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) recorded 10 digs in the final match of her career. Also playing in her final collegiate match was senior Kerry Hill (Andover, Mass./Andover), who notched six kills in the loss.
