COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College volleyball team (8-18) won for the third time in its last four matches on Friday evening, downing Assumption College, 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-19), at the Ross Sports Center. The win completes a season sweep for the Purple Knights over the Greyhounds (Saint Michael's tallied a 3-0 non-conference win versus Assumption on Sept. 13).
For the Purple Knights, junior Lindsey Frazier (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central) led the attack with 10 kills, followed by freshman Lilly Lowe (Marstons Mills, Mass./Barnstable) who recorded seven. Freshman Katie Walsh (North Kingstown, R.I./Prout School) earned 27 assists, and senior Kelly Garthwait (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) and Lowe both made 10 digs in the course of the match.
For Assumption (1-18), sophomore Sam Lupinski (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) and junior Aimee Drainville (Rockville, R.I./Chariho) recorded eight kills each, while senior Kelly Blumenauer (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) was credited with 21 assists. Freshman Steph Whooten (Norton, Mass./Bishop Feehan) made 12 digs in the game.
Saint Michael's returns to action on Saturday, November 7, as the Purple Knights play their final match of the season, a 1 p.m. home contest against league-rival University of New Haven at the Ross Sports Center.
