Kobelt, Herwig play their final game at the Ross Sports Center

COLCHESTER, Vt. ? The Saint Michael's volleyball team (7-21, NE-10 2-12) ended their season on Sunday afternoon, losing at the hands of Merrimack College (17-12, NE-10 12-3) in four sets 30-17, 30-19, 28-30, 30-18. Seniors Leslie Herwig (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) and Kelsey Kobelt (Rye, N.Y./The Ursuline School) played their final match at the Ross Sports Center in a Purple Knights uniform after four years under Head Coach Emily Decker.
The Warriors of Merrimack were led by a balanced attack of hitters including sophomore Lisa Barr (Alberta, Canada/Ponoka Composite) and junior Kristin Applegate (Hampstead, N.Y./Pinkerton) who registered 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Freshman Alyssa Pickert (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) led Merrimack's defense with 26 digs in the team's second win in two days.
For Saint Michael's, freshman Lindsey Frazier (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central) led the way for a second straight game tallying 17 kills and only three hitting errors. Fellow freshman Emma Briscoe (Petersburg, Ind./Pike Central) chipped in 13 kills and 21 digs in Saint Michael's fourth straight loss to end the season. Junior Amy Manougian (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) assisted on 50 kills and notched 12 digs as well.
Merrimack will resume play in the Northeast-10 Conference tournament as the No. 3 seed on Friday, November 9.
