POTSDAM, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College men's and women's swimming & diving teams lost dual-meet decisions to Clarkson University on Saturday in Fuller Pool, with the women falling by a narrow 119-103 count and the men dropping a 148-74 contest.

THE ACTION

  • Kohn won the 200-meter backstroke (2:30.13) and 800-meter freestyle (9:54.09) while swimming for the runner-up 400-meter medley relay squad, joining Giampietro, Grimaldi and White.
  • Grimaldi claimed the 50 free (30.29) by 0.04 seconds, and Giampietro won the 400-meter individual medley (5:34.53) by 0.14 ticks. Giampietro was the 200-meter breaststroke runner-up in 2:55.28, losing the race by 0.13 seconds but holding off the third-place finisher by 0.03 seconds.
  • Benoit, Flanagan, Grimaldi and White won the 200 free relay (2:01.96).
  • White took second in the 200-meter butterfly, junior Reiley Adelson (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) was second in the 200 free, and first-year Maggie King (Clinton, Conn./Mercy) placed second during the one-meter diving.

THE ACTION

  • McGurn won the 200 breast (2:39.04) while taking second in the 400 free and swimming a leg for the runner-up 400 medley relay, joining juniors Connor Hopkins (Windham, N.H./Windham) and Aidan Mulderrig (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) and sophomore Dan Fortier (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich).
  • Imbergamo topped the 800 free (9:18.34) competition and was the 200 back runner-up. Mulderrig claimed second during both the 200 fly and 400 IM.
  • Hopkins took second in the 50 free, trailing the winner by only 0.02 seconds, while anchoring the second-place 200 free relay. He joined senior Seamus Butler (Waltham, Mass./Waltham), sophomore Payton Stewart (Keene, N.H./Keene) and first-year William Sullivan (Arlington, Va./Bishop O'Connell) in that race.
  • Stewart was runner-up in both the 100 free and 200 free events.

  • Next Friday and Saturday at the State University of New York at Potsdam's North Country Invitational.
  • Action on day one begins at 4 p.m.
  • The meet is the Purple Knights' final competition until mid-January.
