Swimming and Diving’s McGrath, Lubeck Earn NE-10 Athletes Of The Week; Sweeney Lands On Honor Roll


COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Northeast-10 Conference announced sophomore swimmer Tim McGrath (Hyannis, Mass./Barnstable) and freshman diver Jade Lubeck (Salt Late City, Utah/Judge Memorial) as athletes of the week on Tuesday, while sophomore Sam Sweeney (Waterbury Center, Vt./Harwood Union) was awarded honor roll accolades.

McGrath had a standout performance on Tuesday against Norwich, as he swam to first place in the mixed 100-yard individual medley (1:00:09), the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.75) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.45) events, while taking part in the first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. On Saturday, he followed up his efforts with a first place finish in the 400-yard medley relay.

Good things come to those who wait, as Lubeck was finally awarded athlete of the week for her continued success in the one-meter dive events. On Tuesday, she collected 337.05 total points by winning both one-meter dives against Norwich. The following meet, on Saturday against SUNY-Potsdam, Lubeck placed first in both one-meter dives yet again, earning 412.28 total points.

Sweeney landed on the honor roll for her first place finishes against the Norwich Cadets in the 200-yard individual medley and the 1,000-yard freestyle. Against SUNY-Potsdam on Saturday, Sweeney placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke and 400-yard individual medley.

The Purple Knights swimming and diving team will be headed to the Northeast-10 Championship this Friday. The events will commence at 3:30 p.m. and wrap up on Sunday.
