POTSDAM, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College swimming and diving team lost a dual meet at SUNY-Potsdam on Saturday afternoon, with the men falling, 142-96, and the women suffering a 131-99 setback.
Sophomore Sammy Sweeney (Waterbury Center, Vt./Harwood Union) won two individual events for the Purple Knight women, taking the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.75) and the 400-yard individual medley (5:02.49). Freshman Jade Lubeck (Salt Lake City, Utah/Judge Memorial) also earned two victories for the Saint Michael's women, winning the one-meter dive (187.28 points) and the three-meter dive (225 points). Sophomore Kaytlyn Kelley (Jefferson, Mass./Wachusett Regional) placed first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.78).
For the men, sophomore Dan Healy (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) was victorious in the 100-yard backstroke (58.06), and was part of the winning 400-yard medley relay. Also helping Saint Michael's win the men's 400-yard medley relay were sophomores Tim McGrath (Hyannis, Mass./Barnstable) and Nick Franks (Needham, Mass./Needham), and freshman Joe O'Connor (Loudonville, N.Y./The Albany Academy).
Saint Michael's returns to action on February 5-7, as the Purple Knights compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship, hosted by Southern Connecticut State University.
