NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The swimming and diving squads earned a pair of wins at Norwich University on Wednesday, with the men defeating the Cadets 154-134 and the women notching a commanding 182-67 final score.
For the men, sophomore Nick Franks (Needham, Mass./Needham) led the Purple Knights with first place finishes in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events. Freshman Max O'Brien (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) also helped earn important points for Saint Michael's by winning both of his one-meter dives, totaling 340.40 points.
For the women, sophomore Katie Kelley (Jefferson, Mass./Wachusett Regional) placed first in the 50-yard and 100-yard backstroke events, while freshman Katie Cox (South Hadley, Mass./Holyoke Catholic) earned wins in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley events. Classmate Jade Lubeck (Salt Lake City, Utah/Judge Memorial) won both of her one meter dives, totaling 335.25 points.
The Purple Knights will compete next in the Bentley Invitational in Waltham, Mass. on Dec. 5 and 6. The event will start at 5 p.m. on Saturday and continue at 10 a.m. the following day.
