Skiing Sits In 10th Place Halfway Through Saint Lawrence Carnival

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College skiing team sits in 10th place out of 15 schools on Friday following day one of the two-day Saint Lawrence University Carnival.

On the alpine side, freshman Gabbi Hall (Truckee, Calif./Forest Charter School) had a strong showing in her collegiate debut, placing 24th in the women's giant slalom. On the men's side, senior Brad Harden (McConnellsville, N.Y./Northwood School) earned a 26th place finish.

The Purple Knights performed well in Nordic competition. For the men, freshman Colin Delaney (Lake Placid, N.Y./National Sports Academy) had a strong homecoming by placing 31st in the 10-kilometer classic in his collegiate debut, while junior Nigel Kinney (Chanhassen, Minn./Eden Prairie) was 32nd. For the women, freshman Julia Saliy (Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia (Vermont Academy)) recorded a 69th-place finish.

The season-opening Carnival concludes on Saturday with competiton beginning at 9 a.m.
