Saint Michael's College graduate Gus Macleod returns to his alma mater for his first season as Technical Coach for both the men's and women's alpine ski teams in 2009-10.
Macleod, a Vermont native, attended high school at Carrabassett Valley Academy in Maine before skiing competitively at Plymouth (N.H.) State University for two seasons. Macleod then transferred to Saint Michael's, where he again skied competitvely before earning his bachelor of science degree in business administration in 2002.
After graduating from Saint Michael's, Macleod spent two seasons coaching at the Mount Mansfield Ski Club in Stowe, Vt. After that, he accepted a position working for the United States Ski Team (USST), where he spent the past four seasons. Macleod worked and traveled with the men's alpine team while with the USST, and spent the past two seasons with the men's World Cup Speed Team.
"Gus is a great guy who brings a lot to the table for Saint Michael's skiing," said head coach Warren Palmer upon Macleod's hiring. "Gus's athleticism, combined with his knowledge for the sport, and his experiences as a coach and a student-athlete at the College, make him a perfect fit as we continue to meet the challenges associated with a growing program."
