    COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College softball standout Katelyn Billings (Saint Albans, Vt./Bellows Free Academy-Saint Albans) earned Northeast-10 Conference Softball All-Academic accolades, it was announced on Thursday. Billings graduated last month with a 3.95 cumulative Grade Point Average and a degree in chemistry.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. - For the third straight year, the Saint Michael's College softball team, led by 10th-year head coach Robyn Newton, has earned the Northeast-10 Conference Spring Sportsmanship Award, as the league announced its fourth annual recipients on Wednesday. The Awards program recognizes one team from each of the conference’s 23 championship sports that has exemplified the spirit of sportsmanship and generally conducted themselves with a higher degree of integrity, character and class.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College softball senior Katelyn Billings (Saint Albans, Vt./Bellows Free Academy-Saint Albans), who completed a stellar four-year career earlier this month, was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team, it was announced on Thursday. It marks the second straight year Billings has earned ESPN The Magazine Academic honors.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Purple Knights (9-31, 4-26 NE-10) suffered back-to-back shutouts in their final doubleheader of the 2010 season schedule, losing 4-0 and 5-0 to the Assumption College Greyhounds (24-18, 18-12 NE-10) on Doc Jacobs Field on Sunday. Game two of the afternoon’s doubleheader marked the final time seniors Heather French, Katelyn Billings, Lindsay Bernard and Kelly Egan would take their positions out on the pitch at Doc Jacobs Field.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Purple Knights (9-29, 4-24 NE-10) split with American International College (24-24, 17-13 NE-10) on Saturday at Doc Jacob’s Field, taking the first game in 1-0 fashion, but falling behind in game two, 5-2. Winning the opener snapped a 12-game losing skid for Saint Michael’s. In game one, Billings doubled to drive home the lone run from junior Kelly Rose Losi (Milton, Vt./Milton) in the second inning. The Purple Knights return to Doc Jacob’s Field on Sunday to host a doubleheader with Assumption College at 12 p.m.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Purple Knights (8-28, 3-23 NE-10) were faced with another doubleheader hardship on Friday, as they matched up against the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire (18-18, 15-11 NE-10) for a 1-0 loss and a 9-4 loss. Junior Meghan Colitti (Dover, N.H./Berwick Academy) recorded a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth, bringing home Frank. The Purple Knights return to Doc Jacob’s on Saturday to host American International in a 1 p.m. contest.

    WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The Saint Michael's College softball team (8-26, 3-21 Northeast-10 Conference) saw its losing skid reach 10 games on Wednesday, as the Purple Knights fell at league-leading University of New Haven in a pair of five inning games, 12-0 and 8-0. Senior Lindsay Bernard (Scarborough, Maine/Catherine McAuley) had the lone hit of the twinbill for the Purple Knights, a single in the fifth inning of game one. Saint Michael's completes its season with three straight days of home doubleheaders, starting with Friday's 3:30 p.m. twinbill with Southern New Hampshire University.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. - Softball junior Meghan Colitti (Dover, N.H./Berwick Academy) was named to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced on Monday. Colitti batted .526, going 10-for-19 which includes her perfect at-bat record on Saturday against Saint Anselm, where she went 7-for-7 at the plate. In a week's action, she two triples, two runs, and four RBIs. The Purple Knights have a busy schedule that lays ahead of them as they look to wrap up their season with four doubleheader events over the week, ending with two home games on Saturday and Sunday.

Junior Kate Condon (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) belted a home run in game two for the Purple Knights. Junior Meghan Colitti (Dover, N.H./Berwick Academy) had a perfect day at the plate for the Purple Knights, as she went 7-for-7 in the doubleheader with a triple, two runs and two RBIs. Saint Michael's continues its six-game road trip on Saturday with a 12 p.m. twinbill at Southern Connecticut State University.

French batted .333 in four league contests last week, and belted her first collegiate home run. Following today's games with Le Moyne College, Saint Michael's returns to action on Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader at Saint Anselm College.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Purple Knights (8-20, 3-15 NE-10) were outplayed 7-2 in opening game against Le Moyne on Monday at Doc Jacob’s Field. In they nightcap, a late comeback forced the game to go the full seven innings, but Saint Michael’s surrendered 12-7. Steph Franks was a huge contributor in game two, going 4-for-4 at bat to earn three scoring runs, including her second homerun in as many days, and three RBIs. The Purple Knights hit the road on Wednesday for a doubleheader at Saint Anselm with the first pitch being thrown at 3:30 p.m.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Purple Knights (8-18, 3-13 NE-10) dropped both their contests against the Saint Rose Golden Knights (7-19, 5-11 NE-10) on Sunday at Doc Jacobs Field, losing their first match 7-3 before suffering a five-inning 16-0 shutout in the following contest. Sophomore Ellen Lussier scored twice in the opening contest. Saint Michael’s is right back in action tomorrow afternoon, hosting Le Moyne College at 3:30 p.m. on Doc Jacobs Field.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Saint Michael's College softball team(8-16, 3-11 NE-10) split its doubleheader against UMass Lowell (13-19, 6-8) on Tuesday at Doc Jacobs Complex. The River Hawks took the first game in five innings, 9-1, but Saint Michael’s rallied for a 6-2 win in the nightcap. Stephanie Frank was 2-for-4 at the plate in game two, scoring two runs, while Heather French went 2-for-3 in the nightcap. Junior Kate Condon recorded her first home run of the season. The Purple Knights remain at home this week, hosting Le Moyne on Saturday and Saint Rose on Sunday, both in 12 p.m. doubleheaders.

Throughout a tough week of competition, Egan made standout performances in the contests, as she batted .435, going 10-of-23 with four runs, one homer, three RBIs and a .609 slugging percentage. She also made four starts on the mound, pitching three complete games for the Purple Knights. The Purple Knights will host UMass Lowell in a doubleheader on Tuesday at Doc Jacob's Field with the first pitch being thrown at 3:30 p.m.
