BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College softball team (7-12, 1-9 Northeast-10 Conference) lost a pair of games on Sunday, falling at league-rival Pace University, 6-3 and 8-4.
In game one, Saint Michael's stranded eight baserunners in suffering the defeat. Junior Megan O'Connor (Georgetown, Mass./Georgetown) and classmate Ashley Harkins (Colchester, Vt./Colchester) each doubled and singled for the Purple Knights, while freshman Kelly Rose Losi (Milton, Mass./Milton) singled twice. Sophomore Kelly Egan (Milford, Mass./Marian) suffered the loss, allowing five earned runs in three innings pitched.
In the nightcap, Pace snapped a 1-all tie with a seven-run sixth inning to complete the sweep. Freshman Kate Condon (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) belted a solo home run for the Purple Knights, while O'Connor doubled, singled twice, and drove in two runs. She took the loss on the mound, allowing four earned runs while striking out five batters in 5.2 innings pitched.
Saint Michael's returns to action on Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. home doubleheader versus Saint Anselm College at Doc Jacobs Field.
