OCOEE, Fla. - The Saint Michael's College softball team (6-1) dropped its first game of the season on Thursday, falling to Western Connecticut State University, 8-0. Thursday was supposed to feature a morning doubleheader between Saint Michael's College and Medaille College, but those contests were rained out, and the Purple Knights instead scheduled a single contest with WCSU.
For the Purple Knights, sophomore Lindsey Bernard (Scarborough, Maine/Catherine McAuley) went 2-for-2 at the plate, while classmate Heather French (Sheldon, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans) also singled. Junior Megan O'Connor (Georgetown, Mass./Georgetown) took the loss on the mound, falling to 4-1 on the season.
Saint Michael's completes its spring break trip to Florida on Friday with a 5 p.m. doubleheader at Rollins College.
