Softball Improves To 6-0 With Doubleheader Sweep Of Medaille
OCOEE, Fla. - The Saint Michael's College softball team (6-0) maintained its perfect record on Wednesday with 7-6 and 4-1 victories versus Medaille College.
In the opener, sophomore Lindsey Bernard (Scarborough, Maine/Catherne McAuley) belted a game-winning single in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Purple Knights. Junior Megan O'Connor (Georgetown, Mass./Georgetown) fired a complete game to earn her fourth victory of the season, allowing just five hits and striking out seven. She also doubled and tripled, while sophomore Heather French (Sheldon, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans) and freshman Kelly Rose Losi (Milton, Mass./Milton) each recorded two singles.
In the nightcap, sophomore Katie Wry (Underhill, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union) picked up her first collegiate victory as the Purple Knights completed the sweep. She pitched the first four innings, striking out three batters, before classmate Kelly Egan (Marian, Mass./Milford) notched her first collegiate save with three innings of scoreless relief. At the plate, Losi tallied three singles and a run scored, while junior Ashley Harkins (Colchester, Vt./Colchester) singled twice and scored twice.
Saint Michael's and Medaille play two more times on Thursday beginning at 9 a.m.
