Softball Improves To 4-0 With Doubleheader Sweep Of St. Joseph
OCOEE, Fla. - The Saint Michael's College softball team (4-0) maintained its perfect record on Tuesday with 6-0 and 8-0 shutout victories versus Saint Joseph (Conn.) University.
In the opener, junior Megan O'Connor (Georgetown, Mass./Georgetown) pitched five innings of one-hit ball to earn the win, her third of the season. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and a run batted in. Freshman Kelly Rose Losi (Milton, Mass./Milton) also was 2-for-3 at the plate, with a home run, two runs scored, and three RBIs. Classmate Lauren Bolger (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) added a pair of singles in the win.
In the nightcap, sophomore Kelly Egan (Milford, Mass./Marian) earned her first collegiate win, as she pitched a complete game five-hitter in a contest shortened to five innings due to the eight-run rule. She aided her cause with a single, run and RBI, while sophomore Katelyn Billings (Saint Albans, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans) tallied two singles and two runs.
Saint Michael's returns to action on Wednesday, as the Purple Knights take on Medaille College in a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
