Softball Sputters At Bryant, Drops Pair To Bulldogs
SMITHFIELD, R.I.- Looking to play spoiler at Bryant (23-10-1) on Senior Day for the Bulldogs, the Saint Michael's College softball team (7-28, 1-25 NE-10) dropped a doubleheader 4-2 and 10-3 in Smithfield, Rhode Island. With a hit on the afternoon, junior Megan O'Connor (Georgetown, Mass./Georgetown) also pitched 11.2 innings for the Purple Knights and struck out eight on the afternoon.
In game one, five Purple Knights accounted for the five hits and freshman Kelly Rose Losi (Milton, Mass./Milton) batted in the team's only two runs. O'Connor went the distance, allowing 11 hits, four runs and struck out five.
In game two, eight players in purple tallied a hit with sophomore Katie Wry (Underhill, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union) knocked a pair of hits and batted in a run. Classmate Katelyn Billings (Saint Albans, Vt./BFA-St. Albans) drove home a pair of runs in the third.
The Purple Knights close out their 2008 season at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, New Hampshire with a doubleheader commencing at 3:30 p.m.
