Despite Losi Homers, Softball Swept At Stonehill
EASTON, Mass.- The Saint Michael's College softball team (7-25, 1-22 NE-10) suffered a pair of losses at Stonehill College Saturday afternoon in Easton, Massachusetts, 8-4 and 10-9. Freshman Kelly Rose Losi (Milton, Mass./Milton) notched a pair of home runs and drove in seven runs on the afternoon, including five in game two to rally the Purple Knights from four down in the sixth inning. The Purple Knights conclude their regular season at Bryant and at Franklin Pierce on Sunday and Tuesday, respectively.
Game One (Stonehill 8, Saint Michael's 4):
Going scoreless through the first three innings, the Purple Knights got on the board in the fourth on Stonehill's only error of the game and a single from sophomore Kelly Egan (Milford, Mass./Milford). Saint Michael's would score two more in the seventh after freshman Kate Condon (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) doubled and Losi homered her first of two round-trippers on the afternoon.
Game Two (Stonehill 10, Saint Michael's 9 [8 inn.]:
Game two appeared to be more of the same for the Purple Knights, but Condon would drive in two of three runs in the second to rally after surrendering four runs in the bottom of the first. Losi would strike again in the fourth with her second bomb, a three-run home run, to tie things at six. O'Connor would pitch four solid innings of relief in game two and Egan would launch a two-run homer to tie things in the seventh, but a costly error led to a run for the Skyhawks to complete the sweep.
Saint Michael's will play Sunday in Smithfield, Rhode Island starting at 12 p.m. and Tuesday in Rindge, New Hampshire for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader.
