Men's tennis falls in non-conference match at Saint Lawrence
CANTON, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team fell at non-league foe Saint Lawrence University, 9-0, on Sunday in Newell Field House. The Purple Knights fell to 1-3, while the Saints are 4-1.
In doubles, the Saint Michael's duo of senior Eric Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C./Pinecrest) and junior Nick Bosco (Glastonbury, Conn./East Catholic) came closest to taking a team point, falling by an 8-5 count at No. 1. Sophomores Michael Matczak (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) and Billy Wood (Wayne, Pa./Home Schooled) grabbed three points at No. 3.
Parziale dropped his opening set at No. 1 singles, 6-4, during an eventual loss, and Bosco suffered a 7-5 defeat in his opening set before falling in the second singles slot. Senior Chris Moskal (Springfield, Mass./Cathedral) claimed four points at No. 4, while Wood and first-year Charlie Merry (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunk) both captured three points in the third and fifth positions, respectively.
The Purple Knights continue a three-match road swing at Colby-Sawyer College on March 21 at 3:30 p.m.
