Vlasich lauded by NE-10 for second straight week, lands on honor roll
COLCHESTER, Vt. - For the second straight week, Saint Michael's College men's soccer junior Josh Vlasich (East Kingston, N.H./Exeter/Siena) was lauded by the Northeast-10 Conference, this time landing on the Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Sept. 9. Last week, following his first playing for the Purple Knights, Vlasich was named NE-10 Player of the Week.
Vlasich posted four goals and three assists while helping his team to a 2-0 mark, scoring one game-winning goal and assisting another. Vlasich set a school record with 10 points, eclipsing the former standard of nine, while tying the program mark with four goals on Tuesday against Johnson State College, adding a pair of assists. His winning goal came 1:19 into the contest. On Thursday versus Lyndon State College, Vlasich assisted a teammate's fifth-minute goal for the game-winner.
Against Johnson State, Vlasich broke a points record set by Bill Jaremczuk '66 in 1965 and matched by David Antonioli '96 twice in 1994, while the goals mark was notched by Antonioli and Jaremczuk in those same three contests. Through four games, Vlasich leads the league in points (15) and assists (5) and is tied for tops in goals (5), netting one game-winning goal and assisting the other three for the 4-0 Purple Knights, who have outscored foes by a 23-0 margin.
Saint Michael's heads to Saint Anselm College tomorrow for its NE-10 opener at 4 p.m.
