Men's And Women's Soccer Teams Receive NSCAA Academic Award

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's and women's soccer teams earned a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Team Academic Award for the 2007-08 academic year, it was recently announced.

Only 65 schools in the country had both their men's and women's soccer programs honored by the NSCAA, and Saint Michael's is the only Northeast-10 Conference school to have both soccer programs recognized.

To be honored, a team has to compile a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale). Both the Saint Michael's men's and women's teams earned a 3.13 cumulative GPA in 2007-08.

The Saint Michael's women, led by 10th-year head coach Marcel Choquette, earned their second straight .500-or-better season (and seventh in the last nine years) in the fall of 2008, going 8-8-2. The Purple Knight men, led by first-year head coach James Franklin, went 7-8-3 this past season, and have won 28 games the last three seasons.
