COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse junior Matt Hanley (Plainview, N.Y./Bethpage) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, April 16. It was his third league accolade of the spring.
Hanley turned in a .593 save percentage, 16.0 saves per game, eight ground balls, one caused turnover and just one turnover during an 0-2 week against nationally-ranked teams. Twenty-one of his 32 saves came during second halves of games. In a narrow 10-7 loss to No. 18 Saint Anselm College on Tuesday, he notched 14 saves and three ground balls before totaling 18 stops, five ground balls and one caused turnover in a 12-2 loss at No. 2 Le Moyne College on Friday.
As the team's undisputed starter for the first time in his career, he is second in the NE10 and eighth among all NCAA Division II goalies in save per game (13.4). Hanley is also sixth in the league in save percentage (.543), having made at least 13 saves five times in his six complete games. The 27 saves he had against Adelphi University on March 25 are still the most by an NE10 netminder this season.
At 1-7 overall and 0-7 in the league, Saint Michael's visits Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
