DeMairo, Donnally receive NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll citations
COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse junior Pete Donnally (Madison, N.J./Morristown-Beard School) and sophomore Chris DeMairo (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) were named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, April 29. The duo helped the Purple Knights down Southern New Hampshire University, 14-7, on Saturday for their program-record-tying 10th win of the season.
Donnally matched his career high with six goals while adding an assist against the Penmen, as he scored twice with a man advantage and added three ground balls and a caused turnover. DeMairo made seven saves and nabbed two ground balls to claim his program-record 10th victory of the season. DeMairo made two of his saves in the fourth quarter after the Penmen had cut their deficit to 8-7.
Donnally leads the team in goals (37) and points (43), standing third and seventh, respectively, in the NE-10 in each category. Among all Division II players, he is sixth in tallies. With 90 career goals, Donnally is tied for sixth in program history, just 19 short of the record. DeMairo is third in the league in both goals-against average (6.04) and save percentage (.596). He stands sixth in Division II in GAA.
At 10-4, the Purple Knights are ranked ninth in this week's United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) national poll. As the fourth seed in the NE-10 Tournament, they take on fifth-seeded Saint Anselm College tomorrow for a first-round contest at 2 p.m. The Hawks were one of only four teams to defeat Saint Michael's during the regular season, as all four losses came by two goals or fewer, including a 6-5 setback at Saint Anselm on March 9.
