COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse team has been in the giving mood this holiday season, as the program has taken part in a pair of community service outreach projects.
On Sunday, November 22, the team ran in the inaugural Turkey Trot 5K run. The team took off from City Market in downtown Burlington, ran down to Lake Champlain, and back. In return, the team was able to donate 43 pounds of turkey to the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf.
Also, for the fourth straight year, all of the squad's first-years and sophomores volunteered with Christmas tree sales benefitting COTS (Commission On Temporary Shelter). Players helped stack, trim and load trees during two weekends of December sales. Proceeds from the sales helped provide temporary shelter and supplies for homeless and displaced members of northern Vermont.
