    COLCHESTER, Vt. - Kevin Simmons (Ridgewood, N.J./Don Bosco Prep), who graduated last month and helped lead the Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse team to an 8-7 record in 2008, was named an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II All-Star, it was announced on Wednesday. Simmons, a Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team selection, led the Purple Knights with 50 ground balls in 2008, as the Purple Knights compiled their fourth straight winning season and advanced to the NE-10 Semifinals for the third straight year.

Simmons tallied a team-high 50 ground balls while starting every contest in the backfield, helping the Purple Knights to an 8-7 record and a berth in the NE-10 Semifinals.

    SYRACUSE, N.Y.- In a game the Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse team (8-7, 6-4 NE-10) was out-shot 61-16 by Le Moyne College (14-0, 10-0 NE-10), eight Dolphins registered a goal for a team that has garnered the top spot for 11 straight weeks in the USILA Division II Coaches Poll. Saint Michael's would fall in the end, 16-5, despite 16 saves from senior captain Jeff Hannon (Wilbraham, Mass./Wilbraham) as he closed out his career as the winningest goalkeeper in program history at 32-25 after four winning seasons between the pipes.

    SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse team (8-6, 6-4 NE-10) will look to derail Le Moyne's (13-0, 10-0 NE-10) quest for their eighth straight Northeast 10 Conference tournament championship this Friday at 4:00 PM in the tournament semifinals. This season marks the third straight matchup in the Northeast-10 semifinals, with the Purple Knights departing the past two times in Western New York. The fourth-seeded Purple Knights advanced to face Le Moyne via their victory over 8-6 victory over fifth-seeded St. Anselm on Tuesday.

Saint Michael's earns the right to play at #1 Le Moyne College on Friday, May 2 at 4 p.m. in the conference semifinals.

    COLCHESTER, Vt.- As one of two teams to host a conference quarterfinal contest, the #4 Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse team looks to make their third straight trip to the conference semifinals in their fourth straight post-season bid against #5 Saint Anselm on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. on Duffy Field at Doc Jacobs Complex. On March 15, the Hawks and Purple Knights fought through overtime before senior captain Mike Boerma scored the game-winner with 59 seconds left to lift Saint Michael's, 11-10 in Manchester, New Hampshire.

    COLCHESTER, Vt.- Facing the second top-ten opponent in as many games, the Saint Michael's College women's lacrosse team (7-6, 5-4 NE-10) surrendered a 7-0 lead less than 13 minutes in to No. 5 and Northeast-10 Conference Regular Season Champion Stonehill College (12-2, 10-0 NE-10) and could not recover, falling 17-5. Senior goalkeeper Courtney Wakem (Tiverton, R.I./Tiverton) tallied double-digit saves in her second straight game, blocking 12 on the afternoon, including seven in the first half.

Led by senior attacker Greg Lazarus (Evanston, Ill./Evanston) and his four goals, the Purple Knights jumped out to a 5-2 halftime lead and played sound defense with two shutout quarters from senior Jeff Hannon (Wilbraham, Mass./Wilbraham).

Senior Jeff Hannon (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) stopped nine shots for Saint Michael's, including six in the second quarter. Saint Michael's closes out the regular season on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. home contest versus Pace University on Duffy Field at Doc Jacobs Complex.

Junior Peter Pikulski (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) led all scorers with two goals and three assists, while sophomore Zach Jandl (Brookline, N.H./Vermont Acad.) stopped 10 shots in 45 minutes of relief for senior Jeff Hannon (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug Reg.) who won his third straight as well.

    COLCHESTER, Vt.- Six second-period goals from the Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse team (5-5, 4-3 NE-10) propelled the Purple Knights past the Falcons of Bentley College (5-5, 3-4 NE-10) on Saturday afternoon at Duffy Field, 9-7, in conference play. On 'Senior Day', seniors Mike Boerma (Concord, Mass./Lawrence Acad.) and Greg Lazarus (Evanston, Ill./Evanston) each registered a hat trick and one assist in Saint Michael's second straight triumph. Senior goalkeeper Jeff Hannon (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) was nimble in net with 12 saves on the afternoon, including eight in the second frame.

Sophomore attacker Charlie Niznansky (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield-Ludlowe) helped Saint Michael’s jump out to an early 3-2 lead with two goals on the afternoon.

Boerma added four assists in the comeback victory. Saint Michael's completes its spring break schedule on Friday with a 1 p.m. contest at Adelphi University.

    MANCHESTER, N.H. - Senior Mike Boerma (Concord, Mass./Lawrence Academy) scored with 59 seconds left in overtime to lift 10th-ranked Saint Michael's College (1-1, 1-0 Northeast-10 Conference) to an 11-10 overtime win over Saint Anselm College in the Northeast-10 opener for both teams. The game was played at nearby Southern New Hampshire University, due to unplayable field conditions at Saint Anselm.

    BALTIMORE, Md.- Inside Lacrosse Magazine has released Face-Off Yearbook's list of preseason All-Americans for Division II men's lacrosse. Three members of the Saint Michael’s men’s lacrosse team were recognized, including senior co-captain Mark Agostinelli (Dedham, Mass./Xaverian Brothers), who garners second-team All-American honors. Coming off a 9-7 year, Agostinelli scored 29 goals to guide the Purple Knights to the Northeast-10 Semi-finals before falling to the eventual national champion Le Moyne College.
