SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse team (8-6, 6-4 NE-10) will look to derail Le Moyne's (13-0, 10-0 NE-10) quest for their eighth straight Northeast 10 Conference tournament championship this Friday at 4:00 PM in the tournament semifinals. This season marks the third straight matchup in the Northeast-10 semifinals, with the Purple Knights departing the past two times in Western New York. The fourth-seeded Purple Knights advanced to face Le Moyne via their victory over 8-6 victory over fifth-seeded St. Anselm on Tuesday.
The Dolphins enter the tournament at the #1 overall seed with a 13-0 record, 10-0 in conference play. Le Moyne is currently on a 24 game win streak dating back to last season. Since 2000, the Dolphins has not lost an NE-10 play-off game.
Facing the Purple Knights back in April, the Dolphins shot past St. Michael's 14-2. Both clubs met in the tournament semifinals last season. Le Moyne was once again victorious 15-5 en route to the conference championship.
Le Moyne is led on offense by senior Tewaaraton finalist Mike McDonald and senior Brian Cost. McDonald leads the ‘Phins in points with 48 (26 g, 22 a) while Cost leads the club in goals with 33.
Saint Michael's is led by senior Mike Boerma (Concord, Mass./Lawrence Acad.) and Greg Lazarus (Evanston, Ill./Evanston) with 30 and 31 goals, respectively. Boerma ranks third in both assists per game (1.79) and points per game (3.93) in the Northeast-10. Senior goalkeeper Jeff Hannon (Wilbraham, Mass./Wilbraham) is also one of six Northeast-10 goalies with a single-digit goals-against average at 9.42.
Tickets are availabe on game day. Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $3 for youth and seniors. Le Moyne students are admitted free with valid ID.
