Pieprzak named NE-10 Player of the Week, Donzanti tabbed as top goalie

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey sophomore AJ Pieprzak (Barrie, Ontario/Ridley College) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, Nov. 25, while classmate Dave Donzanti (West Chester, Pa./Northfield Mount Hermon) was recognized as the conference's Goaltender of the Week. First-year Kevin Altidor (Montreal, Quebec/Millbrook School) also earned recognition, landing on the NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll.

Pieprzak tallied a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win over the State University of New York at Canton last Tuesday. Pieprzak picked up an assist on the game-winning goal in the first period before finding the back of the net on a second-period power play. Through seven games this season, Pieprzak has two goals and two assists.

Donzanti made 16 saves to post a shutout in his first collegiate appearance against SUNY Canton, including making nine of his stops in the opening period. He held the Kangaroos scoreless on three power plays.

Altidor netted the game-winning goal against SUNY Canton, scoring 14:07 into the contest. In five games this season, Altidor leads all Purple Knight first-years with three points on two goals and one assist.

Saint Michael's, which is 2-5 overall, 1-4 in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East and 0-1 in the NE-10, returns to action on Friday when it travels to face Castleton State College at 7 p.m. The Spartans are receiving votes toward both of this week's Division III national polls.
