COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey team (3-2-0, 2-2-0 ECAC East) will put its perfect home record on the line on Tuesday, as the Purple Knights host in-state rival - and defending national champion - Norwich University. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Cairns Arena in South Burlington.
The gates for Tuesday's game will open at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors age 65 and over, and $1 for children under 12 years of age. No tickets will be sold in advance, and the contest is expected to be a sellout.
Saint Michael's has won all three of its home games this season, outscoring its opponents 16-5 on home ice. The Purple Knights feature a balanced scoring attack, led by junior Reave MacKinnon (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Winnipeg Saints (MJHL)), who has a team-high three goals and six points. Eight other Purple Knights have tallied at least three points through five games this season.
Norwich (4-1-1, 3-0-1 ECAC East) is ranked third in the USCHO.com Division III Men's National Poll released earlier today. The defending national champions' top scorer thus far is sophomore Scott Schroeder, who has a team-high five goals and nine points.
Norwich has won all 25 previous meetings between the two schools.
Tuesday's game is the final home contest for Saint Michael's before Christmas. After battling Norwich, the Purple Knights' next home contest is Tuesday, December 28, as Saint Michael's hosts the United States National University Team in an exhibition game at 7 p.m.
