WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey team (4-12-3, 2-9-3 ECAC East) battled ninth-ranked Williams College tough before suffering a 4-1 loss on Friday evening.

Junior Brendan Rimmer (Newbury, Mass./Pingree School) kept the Purple Knights in the contest with 39 saves. Sophomore Brady Earle (Columbia, Md./The Gunnery School) scored the lone goal for Saint Michael's, his team-leading 11th of the season, with assists credited to senior Dave Vorozilchak (Clarks Summit, Pa./Capital District Selects) and junior Nick Sheehan (Potsdam, N.Y./Cornwall Colts).

For Williams (11-3-3, 9-3-1 NESCAC), Alex Smigelski netted two goals and two assists, while Connor Olvany also scored twice. Mark Pulde turned aside 23 shots to improve his perfect record to 4-0-0 on the season, as the Ephs stretched their unbeaten streak to six games (4-0-2).

Olvany opened the scoring 11 minutes into the contest with his eight goal of the season, a power play tally. Olvany struck again, also on the power play, two minutes into the second period with what proved to be the game-winning score.

Smigelski gave the Ephs a 3-0 advantage with an unassisted tally late in the second period, before Earle cut the Purple Knights' deficit to 3-1 with 9:29 left in regulation, connecting with the man advantage.

Smigelski sealed Williams' win with an even-strength goal with 3:26 to go.

Saint Michael's completes its season-high five-game road trip on Saturday with a 4 p.m. contest at 10th-ranked Middlebury College.
