BIDDEFORD, Maine - Saint Michael's men's ice hockey (1-1-0, 1-1-0 ECAC East) won a 4-0 decision in Biddeford, Maine on Saturday, shutting out the University of New England Nor'easters.
Sophomore Brady Earle (Columbia, Md./The Gunnery School) started the scoring off in the eighth minute of the first period, assisted by classmate Reave MacKinnon (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Winnipeg Saints). Their roles reversed at nearly the same point in the second period, when Earle combined with senior captain David Vorozilchak (Clarks Summit, Pa./Capital District Selects) to assist MacKinnon for his first goal of the season, putting the Purple Knights in the lead by two goals. The points kept coming for Earle and MacKinnon, as they assisted junior Nick Sheehan (Potsdam, N.Y./Cornwall Colts) in their first rotation on the ice in the third period. Netting the fourth and final goal for the Purple Knights was an unassisted effort by senior Jean-Maxime Legare (Saint Augustine, Quebec/Restigouche Tigers).
Freshman Mike Dizgun (Kirkland, Quebec/OCN Blizzard) made his collegiate debut in net for the Purple Knights, stopping 24 shots on goal and earning his first shutout.
The Purple Knights will take to the ice this Tuesday at Assumption College for a 6:35 p.m. face-off.
