COLCHESTER, Vt. - Former Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey standout Ryan Mero '09 (Peekskill, N.Y./Avon Old Farms) became the second alum in the last six weeks to sign a professional contract, as the forward has agreed to play for the Mississippi Surge of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL), it was announced on Tuesday.

Mero's first regular-season game with the Surge is Thursday, October 22 at the Louisiana IceGators.

A top playmaker, Mero finished his career with 51 goals, 68 assists and 119 points (all totals ninth in program history) in just 84 games played.
