Lou DiMasi III, a former standout and NCAA Champion at Norwich University, returns to the Saint Michael's College staff for his second season as a men's ice hockey assistant coach in 2009-10.
"I am honored to be a part of the Saint Michael's coaching staff and to have the opportunity to assist Coach Davidson," said DiMasi upon his hiring in the fall of 2008. "I grew up watching and admiring the Purple Knights while my father coached for 25 years, and now to be a part of the program and give back is a thrill for me."
A 2004 graduate of Norwich, DiMasi was a two-time first team All-American and two-time captain for the NCAA Division III Cadets. He helped lead his team to three ECAC East and three NCAA Frozen Four appearances, highlighted with a 2003 NCAA National Championship.
Following graduation, DiMasi had a four-year professional playing career playing for the Augusta Lynx in 2004-05, the Macon (Ga.) Trax of the Southern Professional Hockey League in 2004-05, the Utah Grizzlies in (ECHL) in 2005-06, HYS the Hague - Holland (Dutch Elite) in 2006-07 (where he served as assistant captain, and Vipiteno Bronco's (Italian A2) in 2007-08.
Currently DiMasi is a graduate student at Saint Michaels working as a Resident Director, and also is in his second season as the Purple Knights' golf coach in 2009.
DiMasi, a native of Burlington, Vt., is the son of former 25-year Saint Michael's men's ice hockey coach Lou DiMasi.
