Seven Men's Ice Hockey Players Named To ECAC East All-Academic Team

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Seven Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey student-athletes were named to the 2008-09 ECAC Men's East All-Academic Team, it was announced on Wednesday.

The seven Purple Knights include: seniors Tyler Bilton (Penticton, British Columbia/Finlandia University), Chris Healey (Salem, N.H./New Hampshire Junior Monarchs), Brett Peryer (Peru, N.Y./National Sports Academy) and Matt Whitney (Plymouth, Conn./The Gunnery School); junior Dave Vorozilchak (Clark Summit, Pa./Capital District Selects); and sophomores Fran Briand (South Burlington, Vt./Loomis Chaffee School) and Tully LaBelle-Hamer (Fairbanks, Alaska/Alaska Avalanche).

To be named to the All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic year, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0, and played in at least half of the team's games this past season.

The seven student-athletes helped lead Saint Michael's to an 11-15-2 record in 2008-09, and the program's second straight Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Championship.
