Men's Ice Hockey To Visit Southern New Hampshire In NE-10 Semifinals On Wednesday

HOOKSETT, N.H. - The fifth-seeded Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey team (9-15-2) will look to defeat second-seeded Southern New Hampshire University (9-12-2) for the fourth straight time on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., when the two teams square off in the Northeast-10 Conference Semifinals at the Ice Den Arena.

The winner of Wednesday's contest advances to the NE-10 Championship on Saturday, and would either host sixth-seeded Stonehill College (9-12-1), or visit top-seeded Saint Anselm College (10-14-1). Stonehill and Saint Anselm meet in Wednesday's other semifinal contest at 7 p.m.

Saint Michael's has won three straight contests against Southern New Hampshire, including a 5-3 home victory on Feb. 3. SNHU's last win in the series was a 6-3 home win in the NE-10 Semifinals on Mar. 1, 2006.

The Purple Knights advanced to the NE-10 Semifinals with a 5-4 Quarterfinal win at fourth-seeded Assumption College on Saturday. SNHU, meanwhile, is undefeated in its last three contests, but hasn't played since a 5-5 tie versus Suffolk University on Feb. 23.

Saint Michael's, the reigning NE-10 Tournament champions, is led by senior Tyler Bilton (Penticton, British Columbia/Finlandia University), the NE-10's Goaltender of the Year, and sophomore Matt Rigtrup (Upper Montclair, N.J./Pickering Panthers), the league's Defensive Player of the Year.

SNHU counters with sophomore Troy Maybury (South Portland, Maine), the NE-10 Player of the Year.
