The Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey team won its second straight Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Championship on March 7, 2009, as the fifth-seeded Purple Knights bested sixth-seeded Stonehill College, 3-2, before a sold-out crowd at Cairns Arena in South Burlington. Saint Michael's advanced to the title game with wins at fourth-seeded Assumption College in the Quarterfinals, and at second-seeded Southern New Hampshire University in the Semifinals.
