Men's Hockey To Celebrate "Hockey Weekend Across America" This Weekend


SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey team will celebrate "Hockey Weekend Across America" this weekend, as the Purple Knights host a pair of ECAC East contests at Cairns Arena.

On Friday, Saint Michael's (9-10-1, 4-10-1 ECAC East) welcomes in-state rival Castleton State College (9-10-2, 7-6-2 ECAC East) for a 7 p.m. contest. Friday's theme is "Wear Your Jersey", where fans age 17 and under are admitted free if they are wearing their favorite hockey jersey from any level. The game can also be heard live on ESPN 1390 WCAT, or over the internet at http://www.wcat1390.com, with Chris Wood providing play-by-play commentary.

On Saturday, the Purple Knights host Skidmore College (6-13-2, 3-11-1 ECAC East) for a 3 p.m. contest. Saturday's theme is "Bring a Friend to the Rink", with 2-for-1 admission. Saturday also marks "Senior Day" for Saint Michael's, as the Purple Knights honor their four soon-to-graduate student-athletes: Dan Anctil (Rochester, N.H.), Erik Caron (Kanata, Ontario), Andrick Deppmeyer (Claremont, N.H.), and Matt Hall (Scituate, Mass.).

The standard price for admission is $5 for adults, and $3 for those age 12 and under, 65 and over, or students with valid identification.

Saint Michael's enters this weekend with a 7-1-1 record at Cairns Arena. The Purple Knights are looking to crack the double-digit win column for the first time since the 2003-04 campaign.
