BURNS, BILTON COLLECT NORTHEAST-10 PLAYER, GOALIE OF THE WEEK HONORS

Four Purple Knights named to weekly honor roll

COLCHESTER, Vt. - After two impressive wins over Wesleyan University, 4-2, and Trinity College, 6-2, junior defender John Burns (Sandwich, Mass.) was named the Northeast-10 Men's Ice Hockey ‘Player of the Week' while junior goaltender Tyler Bilton (Penticton, B.C.) grabbed ‘Goaltender of the Week' for the third time this season, for their effort in the weekend double-header.

Returning to .500 (7-7-1) over the weekend was the Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey team, thanks in large part to the juniors Burns and Bilton.  In the win over Wesleyan, Burns registered the game-winning goal midway through the third period while accounting for two assists on the other two Purple Knight goals in the frame.  Burns followed up his performance on Friday with four assists against Trinity to aide the Saint Michael's perfect power play (2-2). Burns now ranks first in assists in both the ECAC East and Northeast-10 Conference.  In net, Bilton improved his season mark to 6-6-1 with 86 saves on the weekend.  Against Trinity, Bilton deflected 56 shots, including 23 in the third period alone improving his save-percentage to .912, tops in the Northeast-10.

Also recognized in men's ice hockey was junior Ryan Mero (Peekskill, N.Y.) who scored two goals and had three assists over the weekend. Against Wesleyan, he scored the equalizer and first of three un-answered goals, while dishing out two assists in the win.
