Jon Rock returns to the Saint Michael's men's basketball coaching staff in 2012-13 for his second season as the second assistant coach. A native of South Burlington, Rock was an assistant coach for four seasons at Norwich University in Northfield prior to his inaugural campaign with the Purple Knights.
As the lone full-time assistant on Norwich's staff, Rock was heavily involved with all aspects of the Division III program, including being charged with scouting as well as coordinating the team's East Coast recruiting efforts. Rock helped guide the Cadets to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament each of his four seasons, including advancing to the semifinals last winter. Norwich went 16-11 overall and 11-7 in the league in 2010-11, its first above-.500 showings since 2006-07. The squad also garnered its first postseason win since 2005-06.
Rock was a counselor at the Five Star Basketball Camp between 2008 and 2010 after serving as a varsity boys' assistant coach at Rice Memorial High School, his alma mater, during the 2006-07 season, leading the team to the Division I state title. Rock was previously the junior varsity boys' head coach for two seasons at Rice.
A four-year member of the Norwich men's basketball team, Rock was a captain during his junior and senior seasons. As a senior in 2000-01, he led the Cadets in scoring (13.0), assists per game (5.2) and free throw shooting (84.9%). Rock completed his degree in communications in 2009.
