COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's basketball senior Levi Holmes III (East Brunswick, N.J./Rutgers Prep) was among 72 student-athletes across seven sports selected for a Northeast-10 Conference Academic All-Conference honor for the winter athletic season, the NE10 announced on Tuesday.
The first three-time NE10 Academic All-Conference pick in program history, Holmes was one of five men's basketball players from around the league selected for the honor. He added the league accolade following a season that saw him earn his second career Google Cloud Academic All-America, Google Cloud Academic All-District and NE10 All-Conference awards.
Holmes, the first two-time Academic All-American in program history, averaged 20.2 points, buoyed by five 30-point games, as he stood third in the NCAA East Region in free throw shooting (89.7%), fourth in three-point percentage (44.1%) and threes made per game (3.0), and 11th in scoring. Among all Division II players, Holmes was 19th in free throw accuracy and 21st in three-point success. He added a career-high 1.1 steals and matched a best with 4.2 rebounds while dishing off 1.6 assists per contest.
Holmes will graduate with the best career three-point percentage (45.3%) and free throw percentage (87.0%) in program history, and is third in three-pointers (278), fourth in points (1,784), fifth in scoring average (17.7) and 10th in field goals (603). Holmes' career scoring average was the best by a Purple Knight since 1974. He sits fourth in NE10 history in career three-point percentage and fifth in free throw success rate, and also owns three of the four best single-season free-throw percentages in program history.
A second-year captain, Holmes is a double major in economics and mathematics while registering a 3.54 cumulative grade-point average. In addition to his Google Cloud academic laurels, he landed Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2 CCA) All-Region as a junior, was NE10 All-Conference twice, and has qualified for the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll seven times. Holmes was an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar following his sophomore season.
