Holmes Earns 11th NE10 Weekly Accolade, DiGrande Lands Initial Nod

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's basketball junior Levi Holmes III (East Brunswick, N.J./Rutgers Prep) and sophomore Eli DiGrande (Essex Junction, Vt./Essex) were named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Feb. 11. It was the 11th time Holmes has been recognized by the league this year, while DiGrande landed his initial accolade.

Holmes tied for the league lead in scoring this past week following three consecutive weeks as the outright leader. Holmes averaged 28.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 block and 1.0 steal during a 1-1 week, shooting 51.3 percent overall and 9-for-11 on free throws. In a 93-71 loss on Tuesday to Stonehill College, which was receiving regional votes, he scored 23 points on 10-of-20 shooting with four rebounds and an assist. During an 83-80 victory at Assumption College on Saturday, Holmes totaled 33 points while shooting 4-of-9 on three-pointers and 9-of-10 on free throws. He added six rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks.

For the season, Holmes averages 24.3 points on 51.3 percent shooting, including 50.0 percent from three-point range. Holmes shoots 88.5 percent on free throws, paces the team in rebounding (4.3) and offensive boards (1.3), and has 25 steals to trail the squad leader by one takeaway. He has turned in at least 20 points 16 times, reaching 30 on six occasions. Holmes is fifth in NCAA Division II in three-point percentage, seventh in scoring, eighth in threes per game (3.7), and tied for 27th in free throw success rate. Among all players in the NCAA East Region, Holmes is first in three-point shooting and treys per contest, and second in scoring and free throw shooting. He is only 0.2 points short of the scoring leader. Holmes leads all NE10 players with 25.3 points per contest in league play.

In his last five games, Holmes scored at least 33 points four times, averaging 34.6 points on 60.0 percent (33-for-55) three-point shooting. Holmes' 560 points this season are the 11th-most in Saint Michael's history, just four short of former teammate Matt Bonds '17 for a spot in the top 10. With 84 three-pointers, he is tied for fourth in program annals. Holmes pushed his career point total to 1,232 last week while becoming the seventh Purple Knight with 200 career threes, passing Brendan Mullins '07 (200) to take over sixth place with 201 treys.

DiGrande averaged 14.5 points on 55.0 percent shooting with 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.0 assist in a 1-1 week. Against regionally-regarded Stonehill, he notched 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting with eight rebounds, two blocks and one assist. At Assumption, DiGrande turned in 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting with eight rebounds, two blocks, one assist and one steal. He averages career highs in scoring (6.6) and rebounding (4.0), having added bests in steals (16) and blocks (15) while leading the team in rejections. The 6-foot-7 post is also 10-of-37 on three-pointers while shooting 44.0 percent from the floor and 70.6 percent on free throws. In his last nine games, DiGrande was the Purple Knights' third-leading scorer (9.2) on 47.1 percent shooting with a team-best 5.1 rebounds.
