COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's basketball first-year Greg Grippo (Edison, N.J./Rutgers Prep) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Feb. 24. This week marks Grippo's second time earning the award.
Grippo averaged 16.5 points while shooting 60.0 percent (12-for-20) from the floor, including 66.7 percent (8-for-12) from beyond the arc, in two games last week. He also averaged 2.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals. Grippo totaled 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting that included a 5-for-8 showing from three-point range against Merrimack College on Wednesday. He also collected four rebounds and had three steals, two assists and a block in the game. At 12th-ranked Saint Anselm College on Saturday, Grippo netted 14 points in 21 minutes, shooting 5-for-6 from the field, including 3-of-4 on three-pointers.
Grippo leads Purple Knight first-years in nearly every offensive category, stands first on the team by shooting 40.0 percent on three-pointers, and is tied for first in three-pointers made, having hit 44-of-110 this season. He is also second in field goal percentage (42.7), third in assists (47), and fourth in scoring (8.4) and blocks (13). Grippo has scored in double figures 10 times this season, including in each of the last four games.
The Purple Knights, who are 8-17 overall and 5-16 in the NE-10, travel to Southern New Hampshire University tomorrow for their final game of the season at 7:30 p.m.
