COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's basketball junior Mike Holton Jr. (Portland, Ore./The Winchendon School) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Nov. 25. During the week, Holton surpassed the 900-point plateau for his career, and he now needs 82 points to become the 14th Purple Knight junior to reach 1,000.
Holton averaged 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists during a 2-0 week. In the two games, he shot a combined 7-for-15 from the field, including 4-of-6 from three-point range, and knocked down 10-of-12 from the free throw stripe. In a 69-60 win on Tuesday over the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, which was receiving national votes, Holton had 11 points, hitting 6-of-8 free throws, and tallied five rebounds and four assists.
On Sunday at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), which upset nationally-ranked Bloomfield College earlier this month, Holton scored 17 points, hitting 5-of-9 from the field, 3-of-4 from three-point range and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Holton also added five assists, four rebounds, a block and a steal. He sank all four of his free throws in the final 37 seconds to seal the game.
Through the Purple Knights' first three contests, Holton is second on the team with 11.3 points per game and leads the squad in assists (12), free throw shooting (87.5), free throws (14) and three-point shooting (50.0). He is fifth in the NE-10 in free throw success and tied for 10th in three-point percentage.
The Purple Knights, who stand 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the league, host Bentley University on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
