BURLINGTON, Vt. - Despite a game-high 30 points from senior Brian Monahan (Kinderhook, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy), the Saint Michael's College men's basketball team dropped a 98-67 decision to the University of Vermont in an exhibition contest on Saturday at Patrick Gymnasium.

Monahan finished 12-for-20 from the field, and added a team-best six rebounds. Saint Michael's shot just 32 percent from the floor in the contest, including 8-of-32 from beyond the arc.

For the Catamounts, four players scored in double figures, led by Mike Trimboli's 24 points and five steals. UVM shot 56 percent from the field and outrebounded the Purple Knights, 47-37.

Saint Michael's opens its 2007-08 regular season on Friday, November 16, as the Purple Knights host Mercy College at 7 p.m. in the DoubleTree Doc Jacobs Classic at the Ross Sports Center.
