A versatile and agile wing-man, Iola will certainly play an
important role for the Purple Knights whether it is rebounding in
the paint or stepping out to hit the mid-range jumper.
As a sophomore: Started 11 of 28 games he appeared in, including 10 straight starts beginning in the new year against Southern New Hampshire (Jan. 3) when he recorded his career-high for minutes played ... was sixth on the team in points scored (81) ... reached double-digits on three occassions during the year ... grabbed a rebound in 18 out of 28 games he appeared in.
As a freshman: Played in every game, and started 13 contests (including 12 in a row from Nov. 30-Jan. 16) ... scored in double figures in four of first 11 games ... had season-high 16 points (7-8 FG) at Saint Anselm on Dec. 6 ... added 13 points (6-6 FT) at Stonehill on Nov. 27 ... played at least seven minutes in all but one contest.
High School: A four-year basketball star at
Pentucket High School ... captained the squad as a senior ...
averaged 17 points and 11.2 rebounds as a senior, leading the
Sachems to a 19-3 record and the Division 3 North Sectional
semifinals ... led Pentucket to consecutive Cape Ann League
championships ... a two-time boys' basketball all-star by the
Lawrence Eagle-Tribune ... scored more than 1,000 career points ...
played for Leo Parent, the all-time leading rebounder at the
University of Massachusetts Lowell and member of their 1987-88 NCAA
Division II Championship team ... also a standout lacrosse
player.
