Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Nate Fritsch, Bentley (Jr., F, Durham, NC) - Helped Bentley stay
undefeated and capture the Northeast-10 playoff championship by
averaging 16.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and one block in
three wins. In the Northeast-10 finals versus Saint Rose, scored 17
points (7-9 FG, 3-4 3FG) and also recorded five rebounds and six
assists.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Jason Westrol, Bentley (Fr., G , Brielle, NJ) - Averaged 10.3
points, 4.7 rebounds and three assists with a .591 field goal
percentage in the Northeast-10 Championship. Made five-of-six
shots, including two three-pointers, en route to 13 points in the
Northeast-10 quarterfinals against Saint Anselm. Scored 16 points,
along with five assists, in the Northeast-10 semifinals versus
Bryant.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Jeff Holmes, Bentley (Sr., F, Westbrook, ME) - Averaged 14 points
and 8.7 rebounds while helping Bentley capture the 2007
Northeast-10 Championship. Shot 61.5 percent overall and grabbed 14
offensive rebounds. Recorded a double-double (16 points, 12
rebounds) in the Northeast-10 semis against Bryant, and also scored
16, with seven boards, in the Northeast-10 finals against Saint
Rose.
Chris Burns, Bryant (Sr., G, Merrimack, NH) - Averaged 15.5 and
4.5 assists in a pair of games last week. Scored 19 points and had
five assists in the Northeast-10 quarterfinal win over American
International and had 12 points in a loss to Bentley. Made nine
three's for the week including five versus American
International.
Jon Ezeokoli, Bryant (Jr., G, South Orange, NJ) - Averaged 14.5
points and 4.5 rebounds in a pair of conference tournament games
last week. Had 18 points on 6-of-14 shooting in a win over American
International and made 4-of-8 shots from the floor to finish with
11 points and added two assists in a loss to Bentley.
Oneil Morgan, Pace (Sr., C, Kingston, Jamaica) - Averaged a
double-double with 11 points and 13.5 rebounds, while shooting
9-for-14 (64.3%) in a 1-1 week. In a win over Le Moyne in the
Northeast-10 quarterfinals, recorded a double-double with 10 points
and 15 boards, while swatting a pair of shots. In the Northeast-10
semifinals against Saint Rose, tallied a double-double with 12
points and 12 rebounds, while rejecting two shots.
Desmond Quincy-Jones, Pace (Jr., F, Rye, NY) - Averaged 15 points,
6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a 1-1 week. In a win over Le Moyne
in the Northeast-10 quarterfinals, scored 12 points, grabbed six
boards, and dished out a pair of assists. In the Northeast-10
semifinals against Saint Rose, tallied 18 points, seven rebounds,
three assists and two steals.
Ryan Williams, Pace (Jr., G, Centreville, VA) - Averaged 19.5
points, 5.5 rebounds, and three assists in a 1-1 week. In a win
over Le Moyne in the Northeast-10 quarterfinals, tallied 18 points,
six boards and four assists, while shooting 7-for-11 from the field
and 4-for-6 from downtown. In the Northeast-10 semifinals against
Saint Rose, scored 21 points and grabbed five rebounds.
Brian Monahan, Saint Michael's (Jr., F, Kinderhook, NY) - Tallied
18 points and seven rebounds, and added two assists and two steals,
in a Northeast-10 quarterfinal loss at Saint Rose.
Jermaine Clark, Saint Rose (Fr., G, Perth Amboy, NJ) - Averaged
10.7 points and 2.3 assists during a 2-1 week. Converted 46.2
percent (6-of-13) from 3-point range. Against Saint Michael's,
finished with 12 points and a pair of 3-pointers in a 76-62
victory. Also added five points and six assists in the 82-81 win at
Pace. Scored 15 points, via 3-for-6 shooting from beyond the arc in
a 71-61 loss at Bentley in the Northeast-10 Championship game.
Will Monica, Saint Rose (Jr., G, Great Falls, VA) - Averaged 15
points and six rebounds during a 2-1 week. Shot 51.7 percent
(15-for-29) from the floor, and connected on 57.9 percent
(11-of-19) from beyond the arc. Shot 9-of-12 for three's en route
to 29 points in an 82-81 victory at Pace. In the Northeast-10
Championship game, added 14 points and eight rebounds in a 71-61
loss at Bentley.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Bentley will be making its third straight
appearance, and 13th overall, in the NCAA Div. II Northeast
Regional after capturing its second Northeast-10 playoff
championship and extending its perfect record to 29-0. With the 29
straight wins, the Falcons tied the all-time New England men's
basketball record (Holy Cross, 1949-50) for longest winning streak.
Jeff Holmes scored his 1,000th point during the championship game
against Saint Rose, becoming the 42nd player in the program's
history to hit that milestone. Jay Lawson became the first
coach in NE-10 men's basketball history to win Coach of the Year
honors four times. BRYANT: Clinches fourth
straight appearance in the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional.
